Description
CultivO2 is a part of the biodiversity, carbon, and water conservation strategies by the Cataruben Foundation, a Colombian NGO. This initiative has been supported by Luker, Partners of the Americas, and 90 cocoa, cashew, and palm producers. CultivO2 promotes the implementation of low-carbon production systems, sustainable land management, silvicultural management, and conservation of forested areas. These conservation activities started in 2017, they are included in the consensual agreements signed by Cataruben and the landowners or beneficiaries. The total area of the initiative is 14.000 hectares. The resulting GHG removals are estimated at 50.000 tCO2e. One hundred percent of the economic resources acquired from carbon credit sales will be allocated to conservation actions. CultivO2 seeks to guarantee democratic participation in its implementation and administration.
