Description
This project aims to restore degraded forest areas in the Upper Magdalena region through community-led reforestation activities. Spearheaded by the Fundación Bosques Vivos, in collaboration with local indigenous communities, the municipality of San Agustín, and academic institutions, the initiative seeks to plant over 150,000 native trees across 500 hectares over an 8-year period.
The project not only contributes to carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation but also promotes sustainable land management practices and strengthens local environmental governance. The initiative includes capacity-building programs for local farmers, education on climate change, and the development of long-term conservation agreements.
